NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER- SJA

Welcome to the French Corner blog!

A reminder about the BBQ, Thursday Sept.17th between  4pm and 7pm.

The day started with:

Grade 6 went back to the text about Natalie au Québec and completed the cloze activity (filling the blanks) page 1,2. They will review the table/place setting vocabulary for homework. They also will complete pages 2,3 to  re-inforce the vocabulary.

Grade 7 received their On y va textbook and the numbers were recorded. The students are responsable for the care of their books.
In class, they worked on the verbs: vouloir, pouvoir and devoir. They used them in sentences. It was a lesson that required everyone to review and practice in their textbook p.14/15. They also worked on pronouns with multiple subjects. Well done and don't forget to study these high frequency verbs. Treat this as HOMEWORK!

Grade 8 students received their textbooks, which are numbered so we can keep tract of them.
The lesson was a review of irregular adjectives and this is an on-going theme throughout the year. This is not an easy concept, but with practice, everyone  will conquer this.
Following this, the students started to work with reflexive verbs and  learning about daily activities. They will have to complete the sheet titled
ton horaire personnel. p.16 This is homework.
They also worked with multiple pronouns and worked on irregular -ir verbs: s'endormir, partir, sortir.

Grade 9 completed a word search that required them to find family words from the first chapter La machine à rajeunir. It was not as easy as it looked! the students collaborated very well. They had to go back to the text constantly!
Page 5,7 were completed for the most part and HOMEWORK is to finish
page 7 and 8 (a,b).

Grade 10/11 worked on the comprehension component of the reading selection "Le dernier des raisins'. This text provides a multitide of idioms and the lesson was to locate them, understand them and replace them with appropriate expressions or words. The students worked both collaboratively and individually and really demonstrated fabulous work ethics. Bravo!
Homework: complete the hand outs and answer the remaining questions.
