Please note that tomorrow is spirit day (house colours)? Please remembe that this is NOT a casual day, but a spirit day, and students must come to school dressed in school colours. Also, if they do not wish to participate they must come to school in their full uniform.
Please read the following: This is for the MYP students.
All students are expected to attend all their classes. Students are allowed to leave school property by signing out at the receptionist desk during lunch time, and must sign in when they return. During morning drop off, students must stay in the school building using common areas such as the sport court, MYP common area, cafeteria, and lockers. Students must report to the gym or homeroom for announcements by 8:45am. At 3:45pm students are permitted to leave school property or to be picked up by a parent/guardian, and are to make arrangements with their parent/guardian on where to be picked up. If a student decides to stay on school property they must use only the St. Jude’s common areas, unsupervised. Students must leave the school premises by 6:00pm. A student may also participate in the paid after-care program. During this time the student will be supervised by the after-care coordinator in the gymnasium, and will leave when their parent/guardian comes to pick them up. If a parent/guardian decides that they do not want their child to leave school property at lunch or after-school, they must send in written consent to Ms. Presy Malan, head of administration. If a parent/guardian decides to take this option students must stay on school property using common areas at lunch, and participate in the paid after-care program after-school.
Grade 6 students were introduced to the programme Visages 3, and after a get to know each other chat, they started to read about Natalie au Québec pp. 6-7-8-9. The vocabulary was discussed and recorded. It was pleasant to listen to them taking turn to read.
Grade 7 are now working on the On y va 2 programme and the class started a discussion on fast food outlets. They read a selection called Le client difficile and recorded the vocabulary for review and for later use in the various activities to come. Well done, everyone! This is a very enthusiastic class and I look forward to work with them this year.
Grade 8 Please remember that if you did not sign and returned the permission form regarding the grade 9 programme to do so at your earliest convenience.
The students started talking about the new unit called Moi-même. com
They read and answer questions about themselves, which was fun and some of the survey were quite on point. They brainstormed about things that took them out of their comfort zone.
Grade 9 introduced themselves and many students demonstrated much aplomb and poise. They started reading the novel first chapter from Denis Côté. They researched the name and shared their findings.
Grades 10-11-12 are waiting for their own copy of Anthology, Nouvelles frontières 11 and 12. They are ordered and will be here shortly.
However, they read from my own copy and researched the author Raymond Plante.
All in all, it was a day that went by very quickly and I will be blogging again next week.
