NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER
Grade 6 read a text and have to answer the questions attached. This is due Thursday. They also took notes of the elements required for their projects. Thursday they will have the period to work on it.
Grade 7 They corrected their work on superlative with some review as well...
They had more questions on how to best used the pronoun ON. They also received their rubric for their projects. Thursday, they will have the period to work on their rough copy. DUE DATE IS TUESDAY, DEC. 8
Grade 8 worked on their project and several students were able to have their copy edited. Their projects are due on Thursday, Dec. 3
Grade 9 had the period to polish their text, poster etc... Thursday is presentation day.
Grade 10/11 Presented their letter of opinion. They were able to express their thoughts and ask each other a few questions. WOW! They should be very proud of themselves! Great job all around.

NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER
Grade 6 The students had their test today and it was corrected in class by the students. This way the corrections have a greater impact and it helps to remember the correct/better answers. A few students asked if they could get more practice sheets. The answer to that is that reviewing what you just did and working on your corrections is more worthwhile. Remember: don't study what you already know, work on what you need to learn! Now, that is real homework.
This weekend: students are asked to fast-forward 20 years and think about what they might do when they grow up...a profession. Do a little research on what that work requires you to do...and think about who you are, what are your qualities, likes and dislikes, today, in grade 6. Next week, La tâche finale will begin.

NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER
Grade 6 The students corrected their homework and it was nice to see that a few students were creative with their questions and answers.
They started a cross word to review their vocabulary and if not completed, together with the word search, this is homework for Thursday.
Grade 7 Students continued working with the comparative and while correcting the homework, it was a great opportunity to review the lesson and begin to use the superlative. Homework p.80/81 don't forget to check if your adjective is in agreement with the noun.
Grade 8 Most of the students were involved with painting decors with Ms Kerr so that everything is ready for the Christmas concert.
Ms Chin also pulled students out to be ready for open house. These activities are vital for our whole community to function as a group.
The rest of the students watched Notre Dame de Paris, a large production on the Victor Hugo's novel. This musical is the product of Luc Plamondon, a Quebecois, and it enjoyed much success in Paris as well as around the world. This work was to complement the unit on monsters in films and the students were able to make parallels with the modern society and its outcasts.

NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER
Grade 6 read about 4 famous canadian with unsual work: a figure skater, an author, a supreme court judge and a computer expert. The students had many questions to ask on the various types of work. Homework is to complete p.36-39.
Grade 7 The students are fascinated by what can be found in the animal kingdom and can be used in medecine. They also had a lesson on the comparative and the superlative. If today's activity sheet is not completed, please finish it as homework. Also ,review irregular adjectives.
Grade 8 were tasked with re-arranging 10 sentences to re-contruct King Kong, the movie. They also studied the vocabulary and took a dictation to test their ability to spell and make sentences.
In the end, they had a game of hang man for vocabulary.
Homework; work on the sheet: le métier d'acteur. due Tuesday.
Grade 9 worked on preposition before a geographic location. They also were given the guideline for the up coming project: les parfums. NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER
Grade 6 The students started a new unit (3). Les Carrières. They will be exploring different job avenues offered to both genders. They read quite fluently today and have p. 33-34 to complete for homework.
Grade 7 Students are working on the pronoun 'ON' and learning to change back to 3rd person singular all verbs connected to this pronoun. They also worked on the futur proche. If the work is done during class is not completed, please finish it as homework. Also, please review your verbs, aller, faire, pouvoir, vouloir, devoir.
Grade 8 there was an assembly (HATCH) in the auditorium this afternoon. The students had the opportunity to discuss and brainstom ideas why scary/monster films unnerve the audience. Why does it make the viewer uncomfortable.
Grade 9 The students worked on the pronoun 'En'. It is starting to make sense to them and they are capable to use it and place it correctly in a sentence.
Grade 10/11 Did activities on le passé simple. Thank you Shakeel for pulling out your notes and helping your classmates! Students also read La Bouffe c'est chimique and finishing answering the questions is homework.

NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER
Grade 6 There was a rather long assembly this morning and the students worked independently on their sentence activity sheet.
Several students told me this morning that for the first time they actually understand how to say large numbers in French by using place values and simple mathematics.
Grade 7 The students are working on vocabulary related to bizarre animals and insects. They really like this topic and are showing much enthusiasm. If their cross word is not completed by the end of the period, this is homework! The biggest task was to write 5 sentences that were true and 5 that were false using the vocabulary from the unit and making sure that the verbs were correctly conjugated.
Grade 8 They are reading independently yesterday's film history and completing a comprehension segments.
They also brainstormed monsters in film and their purposes.
Grade 9/10 have Tech this Friday
Grade 11 shared their recipes and reviewed all the grammar concepts introduced this far. There was a discussion about the chemicals put in our food, GMO, fresh versus frozen products etc...The students are very passionate

NEWS FROM THE FRENCH CORNER
Grade 6 completed the questions and family word sections for the story Un vol à la Banque Royale. The students were very motivated to work this morning. Bravo! They also had a lesson on numbers. they told me that Math in French was fun.
Grade 7 The students brainstormed a bit about the use of animals in medecine. They began to read aloud the first part of the unit and everyone was using good diction and intonation. They also completed a grid of information for each animal and this will be very useful at a later date in their final project.
Grade 8 were given 2 short dictation to test their ability to write what they hear. They then did all the corrections. They started to read about Les monstres and they discussed what is very scary in movies and how it differs from many years ago at the begining of film making.
